Cundall’s Head of Operations and Business Development in Australia, Joanne Sim, has joined the Board of the International Association for Sports and Leisure Facilities Australia and New Zealand (IAKS ANZ), strengthening Cundall’s connection with a growing network committed to creating better places for active living.
IAKS is the world’s leading global non-profit network for professionals involved in the planning, design and operation of sports, leisure and recreation facilities. Its mission, “Facilitating an Active World”, brings together architects, engineers, designers, operators, government, sporting organisations, suppliers and other industry specialists to share knowledge and advance inclusive, sustainable and high-quality facilities.
Cundall has a long history of designing sports facilities. Across Australia and internationally, our teams have contributed to stadiums, aquatic centres, community sporting precincts, elite training environments and major sporting events, combining technical expertise with sustainable design, accessibility, operational performance and long-term social value.
Projects such as Narrandjeri Stadium, Barton Park Sports Precinct and the State Basketball Centre demonstrate how thoughtful engineering and sustainability can support participation, wellbeing and enduring community benefit. Globally, Cundall’s experience includes work connected with the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympic Games, All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club and Commonwealth Games ceremonies.
Joanne brings more than 20 years of marketing and business development experience in the property and construction industry, together with expertise in brand strategy, communications, events management and stakeholder engagement. On the Board, Joanne will support IAKS ANZ to grow its profile and reach, create meaningful opportunities for members to connect and share knowledge, and bring sustainability and long-term community value into conversations about the future of sport and leisure facilities.
“IAKS brings together the people who shape the places where communities move, connect and thrive. I am excited to join the ANZ Board and contribute my experience in communications, events and relationship building to help grow the network, share knowledge and champion facilities that are inclusive, sustainable and designed for lasting impact,” Joanne said.
