The project will deliver three specialised operational maintenance bases within the western airside zone of the new airport, forming part of the Port Polska investment programme. Comprising vehicle maintenance, snow removal services, and airport maintenance facilities totalling 29,000 m², the development is designed to support safe, resilient, and efficient airport operations, while providing the infrastructure needed for long-term operational performance.
Cundall is acting as Lead Consultant, responsible for the comprehensive design development and delivery of project documentation for the maintenance bases. Our multi-disciplinary scope covers the full spectrum of design services, including optioneering and the development of architectural, engineering and technical solutions through concept design, building permit and detailed design stages. The commission also includes roadway and infrastructure design, cost planning, environmental and acoustic studies, preparation of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report, geotechnical documentation, and assessments of the development’s impact on airport operational systems.
A key focus of the design is the integration of low-energy and low-carbon solutions to enhance the sustainability and operational efficiency of the facilities. These include low-carbon heating and cooling provided through the airport’s external ambient loop system, heat recovery from compressed air system compressors to improve energy efficiency, and specialist engineering and industrial process systems supporting safe, reliable and sustainable airport maintenance operations.
Sławomir Szumierz, Associate Director, commented: “This project brings together a highly specialised multi-disciplinary team to deliver resilient, efficient, and sustainable airport maintenance infrastructure. Our focus is on integrating technical excellence with long-term operational performance, ensuring the facilities support the reliability, safety and environmental ambitions of a modern international airport.”
Through integrated working, innovative problem-solving and a commitment to sustainability, we are delivering a facility that will support the airport’s operational excellence for decades.
