New Green Star best practice guide now available

Australia 07 December 2025

The Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) has launched ‘Going for Green: a best practice guide to engaging Green Star Buildings project teams’.

We’re proud to share that Cundall’s Oliver Grimaldi contributed to the development of this important resource, which provides the industry with a practical, end-to-end guide to clarify responsibilities and set projects up for Green Star success.

About the guide

Designed to make Green Star certification clearer and more accessible for clients, project teams, and contractors, the guide draws on lessons from experienced professionals and outlines the critical role of a Green Star consultant.

Going for Green offers straightforward advice on:

  • Clarifying roles and responsibilities for clients, designers, builders, and Green Star consultants
  • Scoping and engaging Green Star consultants effectively
  • Identifying and managing certification risks across all project stages
  • Implementing best practice processes for Green Star ratings from conception through post-occupancy.

This resource is designed to help both newcomers and seasoned professionals avoid common pitfalls, streamline project delivery, and achieve ambitious sustainability outcomes.

“Green Star certification shows true sustainability leadership, but the process can be complex. This new guide makes it clearer and easier for everyone. At Cundall, we’re proud to have contributed, drawing on our experience delivering over 500 Green Star certifications across Australia. I encourage industry to explore the guide and see how it can set their projects up for success.”
