Cundall has reached a major sustainability milestone, delivering over 500 Green Star certifications across Australia, covering nearly 7.5 million square metres of real estate. This achievement coincides with the firm’s 20-year membership with the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA), reinforcing its long-standing commitment to shaping a greener built environment.
Since the launch of the Green Star rating system in 2003, Cundall’s team of Green Star Accredited Professionals have been at the forefront of sustainable design. More than 50 projects have achieved a 6 Star Green Star rating, the highest level of certification, representing world leadership in delivering healthier, more responsible, and future-ready buildings.
From elite basketball stadiums in Melbourne to premium-grade office towers in Sydney’s CBD, masterplanned communities in Western Australia and mass timber industrial facilities in Queensland, Cundall’s expertise spans every state and territory, across a diverse range of building types.
Cundall has also guided clients to several industry firsts in Australia, including:
- The first 6 Star Green Star multi-unit residential project (Green Star - Multi Unit Residential Design)
- The first ‘As-Built’ rating for a retail centre (Green Star – Retail Centre As Built)
- The first 6 Star Green Star office tower in Sydney (Green Star - Office As Built)
- Australia’s first 6 Star Green Star communities project (Green Star – Communities)
Beyond project delivery, Cundall plays an active role in shaping the future of sustainable buildings through its involvement in the GBCA’s Technical Advisory Group and Expert Reference Panels, contributing to the ongoing evolution of the Green Star framework.
“Delivering over 500 Green Star certifications is a proud milestone for our team. Each project represents a collaborative effort to create buildings that are not only high performing, but also healthier, more resilient, and more valuable over time. Green Star has evolved significantly over the past 20 years, and with each new tool, our team has embraced the opportunity to challenge our clients to go further, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the built environment.”

““This milestone is a testament to the leadership and collaboration that drives our industry forward. For two decades, Cundall has played a central role in bringing Green Star to life – from some of Australia’s first Green Star projects to the next generation of net-zero and nature-positive buildings. Every certification represents a team choosing to do better – to create spaces that are healthier for people and lighter on the planet. As we look to the next 500, it’s partnerships like these that will help us scale sustainability across every corner of the built environment.””
