The LRT connects the city to the new Doha Metro System, providing modern transportation links to Doha and Hamad International Airport. The LRT has four main operating lines with a total of 33km trainways, transporting 50,000 passengers a day. The network has 28 stations across 3 lines, 15 at-grade stations and a 155,000m2 depot facility. Future plans include extending the network around Lusail City and beyond.
Our team was responsible for providing multi-disciplinary design services for 10 underground stations, 2 open-cut stations, 3 interchange stations and a typical at-grade station. In addition, we provided specialist services for the overall LRT network including system assurance, fire and life safety, building transport systems, static sizing studies and a tunnel ventilation system.
Robert Strigi, QDVC CEO commented "The Cundall team were always proactive and flexible in the delivery of the project and regularly provided support on areas beyond their scope. The fact that Cundall’s contract is now over 10 times where it started is related directly to the team’s performance. The designs developed were efficient, cost effective and not overdesigned which is a key factor for us as a contractor. Overall Cundall team was very approachable and easy to deal with."
We provided a range of services throughout the life cycle of the project including input into feasibility studies, concept design, schematic and post design services during the construction stage.
