This groundbreaking rail project spanning 1,200 km will extend from the border of Saudi Arabia to the border of Oman, transporting more than 36.5 million passengers by 2030 and 60 million tons of freight annually. Working with the VINCI Construction led joint venture Cundall was responsible for the full gambit of multidisciplinary design services associated with the design of the main depot facility and masterplan. The facility will be the largest and most important facility on the network, responsible for all warehousing, installations, operations and the maintenance of the Stage 2 fleet of locomotives and wagons. It also includes an administrative building to control the operations of the whole network.
As Lead Design Consultant, Cundall was responsible for the full gambit of multidisciplinary design services consisting of over 15 primary disciplines associated with the design of a railway depot facility. The overall design stage lasted 18 months from initial inception to 100% design.
Lee French, Partner & Managing Director MENA, commented "To play such a pivotal role in a project that enables the UAE rail network and all the social mobility and sustainability benefits that come with it is extremely rewarding for all at Cundall."
Our team are so proud to have taken on a leading role in the design of one of the UAE's largest and most important infrastructure projects.
