Cundall Belfast, College House

Sustainable office refurbishment less than three minutes from Belfast Grand Central Station

Open-plan office with many people seated at desks working on computers. Large black chairs, multiple monitors, and laptops are visible. A tall potted plant is in the center, with acoustic ceiling panels and light-colored walls in the background.

The refurbishment of our Belfast office focuses on wellbeing and flexible working spaces. Serving as both client and consultant on the project, the Belfast team has created a space that supports individual working styles, with office graphics paying homage to the city's historic Linen Quarter - formerly the centre of Ireland’s global linen industry. We ensured that items such as sit/stand desks and curved screens met our high standards for the refreshed workspace.

The lighting design incorporates products that can be maintained, upgraded and regenerated for a longer service life, with wireless control to lower embodied carbon. WELL principles are integrated throughout, featuring a carbon positive hemp acoustic ceiling canopy, and approximately 85% recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) acoustic wall panels in a variety of textured weave prints.

Yvonne McNally commented, "We are delighted with our new office space operating with significantly reduced energy intensity through high efficiency heat recovery. Through circular economy, our materials were maintained, upgraded and regenerated for adaptive use allowing for incorporating sustainability where possible. Our team can truly thrive in this thoughtful workplace design."
