Centre for Higher Education Studies

The Centre for Higher Education Studies provides high-achieving secondary school students with specialist learning facilities, supporting their transition from secondary to tertiary studies. Located in Melbourne’s South Yarra suburb, the design navigates the complexities of a busy urban environment to create a peaceful space for teaching, and integrates a central atrium, connecting students with natural light, ventilation and landscape to encourage stronger learning outcomes.

Cundall provided both sustainability consulting and multidisciplinary building services design including electrical, mechanical, acoustics, hydraulics, fire, and lighting. Our team worked with the client to enhance indoor environment quality by incorporating natural ventilation, daylighting and passive thermal performance. The digital engineering-led design also minimises operational costs through enhanced energy efficiency and optimised integration between different building services.
