Barbara Smitten named in top 50 women in engineering

Barbara Smitten, Associate Director, in the data centre team, has been included in the Women’s Engineering Society’s (WES) Top 50 Women in Engineering.

The Women’s Engineering Society is a UK-based professional society and networking body for women engineers, scientists, and technologists. It was the first professional body set up for women working in all areas of engineering. Speaking on her award win, Barbara Smitten, said, “I am extremely honoured to be included in the Women's Engineering Society’s Top 50 Women in Engineering 2025. Building a career working on award-winning data centres with great people has been an amazing experience. I look forward to continuing to grow alongside this sector and promote and champion the next generation of engineers.”

Accompanying Barbara at the event was Carole O’Neil, Managing Partner at Cundall. Discussing the award, Carole said, “We’re very proud of our track record in nurturing talent at Cundall, so we’re always delighted when our people are recognised externally for the amazing work that they are doing in the industry. It’s been a joy to watch Barbara’s career with Cundall develop, and this award is so well-deserved."
