TIDES Hong Kong is a purpose-built venue to accommodate the demands of modern music tours. Designed with fully integrated touring infrastructure and production capabilities, it is the only medium sized venue with these features in the region.

Situated within a busy urban area with residences as close as 6 meters away, this venue demanded a sophisticated acoustic approach to manage the elevated sound levels and deep low-frequency output from large subwoofers.

Our team utilised a combination of 3D room acoustic modelling to simulate sound distribution within the venue, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) models to evaluate and mitigate music-induced vibrations and other acoustic tools to design the venue to maximise music quality and guest experience. Specialised secondary ceiling using Aluminium Honeycomb sandwich panels and cavity membrane absorbers was installed within the venue to control noise and vibration, marking the first application of this solution for such a purpose.

Additional concrete walls and acoustic doors provide effective insulation, helping to control sound leakage to the exterior. The extensive use of sound-absorbing materials within the spaces improves room acoustics, enhancing overall acoustic quality while elevating both guest and artist experiences.
