Stockland Birtinya is a 17,000m² shopping centre development on a greenfield site within the Sunshine Coast. The shopping centre achieved a 5 Star Green Star and exemplary energy efficiency. It includes a naturally ventilated mall with Coles as a major anchor tenant, several mini majors, specialist stores and a food precinct featuring alfresco dining areas.

We provided sustainability design services, including Green Star consultancy, NABERS Energy modelling and monitoring and Life Cycle Analysis. Building services and building envelope performance were designed to achieve a minimum of 5 Star NABERS. The centre has a large solar PV array comprising a 550kW system that will generate a significant portion of the building’s electrical load.

"We have a long partnership working with Stockland on projects in other states. This project built on that mutual trust, and it was a new step in Stockland’s retail centre sustainability approach to aim for both a high NABERS rating and 5 Star Green Star. The centre was designed to suit the climate and performs well beyond expectations." Dave Collins, Director.
