This project modernised three passenger lifts and reconfigured a strategic core at a large hospital in London. This included the decommissioning and removal of two redundant 1960s goods units to be replaced by a single high-capacity service lift. Our vertical transportation team delivered comprehensive project oversight from the initial site survey and design specification through to final commissioning and formal handover.

Our technical experience ensured the successful delivery of this complex hospital lift project through rigorous site surveys and bespoke design specifications. We provided expert oversight during the decommissioning of redundant goods lifts and the integration of the high-capacity service unit, ensuring all systems met stringent healthcare safety standards and operational efficiency requirements at every project stage.

Graham Barker, Partner, comments: “By managing every stage from initial survey to handover, we overcame complex logistical challenges to enhance clinical flow and reliability without compromising the hospital’s critical patient care services. The project had significant unique challenges which required reliable collaboration and rigorous contingency plans for waste management for the entire duration of the project.”

Successfully modernising the lift offering in this project required meticulous planning, especially within a live hospital environment. However, the new modern services provided by this upgrade will be key to the future of the hospital’s performance.
