I started my career studying a BEng in civil engineering at London South Bank and went straight into the workforce as a lift maintenance manager after my undergraduate degree. By 2018, I had achieved an NVQ in lift engineering alongside my work as a contractor, and in 2022, I joined Cundall’s London office for the flexibility and work-life balance on offer. I love problem solving, which is how I got where I am, inspired by growing up surrounded by a family of mechanics in South America. Now, I continuously strive to develop my technical skills, industry knowledge and people management capabilities.
Engineering excellence
To me, excellence means being the one who can find the solution the client needs, even when they don’t yet know what they want. We must push to constantly innovate flexible, effective, sustainable design solutions, thinking about adding value through energy efficiency, increased capabilities and organising unintrusive construction processes.
Collaboration
I work with multidisciplinary teams all around the globe, which often means adjusting our communications to accommodate everyone’s time zones. Likewise, we work with a huge range of clients, from hospitals to housing associations to museums. As a former semi-professional cricketer, being a team player is essential to me, and even more than that, it’s hugely satisfying.
