Overlooking the River Eske stands Donegal Castle. Built in the 15th century by Irish clan chief Red Hugh O’Donnell as his fortress, the Gaelic castle was set on fire by Hugh himself to make sure his castle would not fall into English hands. The building complex fell into ruins in the 20th century but was brought back to its former glory in the 1990s.

As part of our extensive building services works at this historic castle, we stripped out and disposed of the existing electrical installation while reusing the existing incoming ESB supply and power distribution. We prioritised the installation of adequate lighting and emergency lighting throughout the castle, alongside a fully compliant fire alarm system.

William Dolan commented, “Working on such a historic Irish monument required thorough collaboration and planning from all parties involved to ensure we were able to honour this Irish relic. With the new fire alarm system and efficient lighting throughout, visitors can learn about Irish history in a comfortable setting.”
