Originally a 6-storey office building, Amano has been transformed into a 141-bedroom boutique hotel with a unique rooftop terrace bar offering panoramic views. Located in the heart of London’s theatre-land, it provides easy access to Covent Garden's best entertainment, restaurants, and shops.

The project involved retrofitting and reusing the original 1980s building, adding two floors and a publicly accessible roof terrace. Major interventions included new lifts and core reconfigurations to enhance vertical circulation for the new hotel use.

Our structural engineering team significantly reduced costs and program risks by locating original record drawings, providing key knowledge early on. This project exemplifies the City of Westminster’s Retrofit First Policy, showcasing how such policies can create commercially sustainable futures for otherwise obsolete buildings.
