Cundall was pleased to welcome UK Trade Envoy John Slinger and representatives from British Embassy Seoul for a site walk-through of the Busan Opera House, providing an opportunity to share the progress of this landmark project and showcase Cundall’s international engineering expertise in South Korea.
The visit brought together John Slinger MP, UK’s Trade Envoy to the Republic of Korea, Beth McKendrick, Country Director of Department of for Business, Innovation, Science & Trade, Soobin Heo, ESS Market Advisor, and Karn Chatikavanij, BIST APAC Marcomms Officer, alongside representatives from Cundall, HJ Shipbuilding & Construction (HJSC) and the Busan City project team.
Forming part of the city’s North Port redevelopment, the 48,000 sqm Busan Opera House is a landmark cultural development on Busan’s waterfront. Engaged by HJSC, Cundall worked closely with Snøhetta, drawing on expertise from across our international team to help translate the project’s complex architectural vision into a coordinated and buildable structural solution.
The site walk-through provided an opportunity to see the progress of the project first-hand and share how Cundall’s expertise is applied in Korea. The visit also enabled an exchange of perspectives on Busan’s continued development, and the role international consultants can play in supporting future projects across Korea.
“The Busan Opera House demonstrates the value of bringing together international experience and strong local expertise. Our diverse project team brings together different backgrounds and areas of expertise, supported by knowledge and resources from across Cundall’s global network. This combination has enabled us to bring fresh perspectives to a highly complex project. We were delighted to welcome the UK Trade Envoy and representatives from British Embassy Seoul to the site and share the progress being made.” said Dong Chen, Project Director and Partner at Cundall.
Looking ahead, Cundall aims to build on the relationships established through projects such as the Busan Opera House, creating new opportunities to collaborate with talented teams and partners across Asia Pacific while bringing the best of our global expertise to future projects.
