Two wins for Trimontium Museum at the Scottish Borders Design Awards

UK and Europe 19 December 2025

Double victory for Trimontium Museum at the Scottish Borders Design Awards, with the project winning both the Placemaking Award, and Scottish Borders Building of the Year.

Recognised by the judging panel for its thoughtful approach to museum interpretation, its strong integration with the surrounding conservation area, and its calm, meticulously crafted interiors, the museum enriches visitors’ understanding of the region’s Roman heritage. It tells the story of Trimontium - the largest Roman fort and settlement north of Hadrian’s Wall.

Graham Thomson, Associate Director, commented, “We’re incredibly proud that Trimontium Museum has received these awards. They reflect the dedication and expertise our building services team brought to the museum’s refurbishment and extension. It’s fantastic to see the space being enjoyed by visitors and to have this recognition from the Scottish Borders Design Awards.”

Congratulations to the project team, including SBC Architects Department, on a triumphant night!
