Cundall is delighted to announce that Al Maryah Tower has won Retrofit Project of the Year at the MEP Middle East Awards. These prestigious awards celebrate building services design excellence and recognise the landmark projects shaping the rapidly evolving construction landscape across the MENA region.
Once at risk of becoming a stranded asset, Al Maryah Tower has been reimagined through one of the region’s largest and most complex commercial retrofits and now stands as a scalable model for repurposing underutilised buildings across the GCC region.
Our building services team focused on optimising systems for multi-tenant occupancy, ensuring regulatory code compliance, extending the building’s lifespan, and improving overall energy performance and flexibility.
Reflecting on the win, Marc Lynch, Associate, commented: “This award is a proud moment for the whole project team. Delivering one of Abu Dhabi’s most ambitious retrofit programmes, we worked hand in hand with Aldar and CSQ to transform this commercial tower into a resilient, energy-efficient, and future-ready workplace - all while keeping it fully operational. It’s a true showcase of what collaboration and technical excellence can achieve, and we couldn’t be prouder to see our work recognised as a benchmark for future-proofing buildings across the UAE.”
