We are pleased to announce that five of our projects have been shortlisted for the BCO Northern Awards 2025. Amongst the contenders for the prestigious awards are Eden, New Bailey in Manchester and Bank House in Newcastle.

Eden is a 12-storey office development in the Salford Central New Bailey development scheme. The building is the first new build in the UK to achieve a 5.5 NABERS Design Reviewed Target Rating, as well as holding certifications such as BREAAM Outstanding and WiredScore Platinum. It has so far received accolades such as Project of the Year, Mix Awards North 2024, Building of the Year at Unlock Net Zero Awards and Commercial Development of the Year with Insider Media North West Property.

Arden Square is a 44,000 sq ft workplace development project in Crewe, with offices and various amenities spread across four floors. Spaces include breakout and meeting rooms, and a Star Wars themed rooftop sky bar that provides a unique, fun event venue for staff and customers that spills out onto the terrace. This project has already been awarded Project of the Year for 30-70k sq ft workplace interiors at the Mix Awards North 2024.

Bank House is a new Grade A office space in Newcastle’s landmark Pilgrim Place development, intending to provide over 400,000 sq ft of new offices. The project includes ground floor retail space, with high quality, column free workspace across 12 floors and a 360-degree skyline view. This development has been designed in line with BCO guidelines and to a BREEAM Excellent rating.

Havelock is the latest addition to Manchester’s commercial landscape, boasting a 110,700 sq ft retrofit and extension of two more floors to the existing concrete frame. Complete with full access raised floors on every level, as well as on-site amenities such as a wellness studio, gym, cafe and bike storage. The Grade A office space has achieved NABERS 5*, an A EPC and is targeting BREAAM Outstanding, which if achieved will make it the only completed retrofit in Manchester to hold that rating.

The Isaacs Building is serving as the new home for Henry Boot’s head office, part of the ‘Heart Of The City’ Sheffield city centre development scheme. The office spans 12,800 sq ft over three floors, offering a modern, sustainable, and flexible workspace for over 90 employees. This relocation aims to foster collaboration, attract new talent, and support employee wellbeing with various amenities, as well as aligning with Henry Boot's goal of reducing its carbon footprint, targeting net zero carbon by 2030. The Isaacs Building, which has a BREEAM Very Good rating, is connected to Sheffield’s District Energy Network for sustainable energy.

"We are incredibly proud to have five of our projects shortlisted for the BCO Northern awards," said Paul Kenyon, Partner at Cundall. "It shows the dedication of our brilliant team and our commitment to excellence in the workplace engineering industry.”

Having these projects shortlisted reflects the value created by an innovative approach to engineering design. The awards bring together the best talent and creativity from across the North, serving as a great opportunity to showcase the peak of what the industry has to offer. Congratulations to all involved.
