Asia 14 March 2024

Cundall celebrated the ongoing growth of its business in Asia-Pacific and the first anniversary of establishing an office in Manila, the Philippines on 21st February at an anniversary event co-hosted with the British Embassy Manila.

In the past year, Cundall has seen a growing demand in the regional market for sustainable and innovative design solutions, building strong relationships with clients who are looking to achieve ambitious sustainability goals.

The milestone for the Manila office marks a significant achievement for Cundall, which over the past year expanded its global presence to 26 offices around the world.

“With our talented Cundall staff in Manila, the team is bringing international expertise and experience to the local market, contributing to the development of sustainable infrastructure and helping to combat global environmental crises like climate change by providing designs that are resilient to extreme weather events likely to intensify over the coming decades,” said Cundall APAC Partner, Alex Saez.

“Our sustainability focus is intrinsic to all our multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy services including building services engineering, structural & civil engineering, ESG strategy, net zero building design, acoustics, lighting design, smart buildings, power system, and deep retrofits for energy-efficiency optimisation. Cundall is also committed to bringing our clients in the region along with us on our Zero Carbon Design 2030 journey, making a positive change to the industry and to the lives of everyone in the wider community.”

The anniversary event at the Ambassador’s Residence brought together over 60 esteemed guests, statutory bodies, industry leaders and key stakeholders from across Asia.

Dr. James Thackery, Philippines Country Director for Trade & Investment, said that sustainability lies at the heart of global progress. When we recognise that the challenge of achieving net zero is a shared responsibility that transcends borders, collaboration becomes paramount.“

The UK has a wide-ranging expertise on sustainable infrastructure and net zero which can be greatly beneficial to the Philippines, as there will be an increasing number of businesses aiming to achieve the global commitment towards net zero by 2050. The British Embassy will continue to partner with the Philippines on their journey to decarbonisation. I am delighted to witness Cundall thriving in the Philippines and proud of their strong commitment to sustainability and globally impactful contributions such as their Zero Carbon Design 2030 initiative.”

APAC Partner, Alex Saez, added that the support from the British Embassy plays a key role in business development across the wider region, and looks forward to future collaborations with the Embassy to enable the Philippines to become a more sustainable nation.

“We are grateful for the support from the British Embassy Manila as we expand our professional advisory within the Philippines and to neighbouring countries. We look forward to pushing the boundaries of sustainable designs with different clients and stakeholders.”

APAC Partner Matt Dalby, who is based in Singapore, says Cundall’s global leadership team are incredibly proud of everyone who contributed to making such a great start of our Philippines business.
