In responding to the climate emergency, many countries and organisations have committed to reducing their carbon footprint and to reaching net zero carbon for all buildings in the next 30 years. Singapore recently announced its Green Plan 2030 to advance the national agenda on sustainable development. This presentation gives an overview of the Structural Engineer’s responsibilities in Advancing Net Zero, the tools of embodied carbon counting and methods of reducing embodied carbon in structural design.

In collaboration with The Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering, National University of Singapore and IES-IStructE Joint Committee.
