Each year for World Green Building Week (WGBW) Cundall hosts industry events across our 21 offices. On 15 September 2022 our Dubai office hosted an in-person event to not only educate the industry, but also to collect the views of industry leaders and their approach to climate change.

The future of retrofit has never been more important, particularly in the UAE, where a considerable proportion of the building developments were built during the construction boom at the turn of the century. Since then, new buildings have embraced the benefits of best practice sustainability standards to ensure all MEP systems are optimised to maximum potential and now act as a benchmark for the older building stock in the region.

We start with scene setting including the significance of this year and decade, then laying out the challenges the built environment faces if we are to play our part in achieving global climate targets. The panel then open up to a facilitated discussion, highlighting how we can all play our part in increasing the value of existing assets to avoid the stranded scenario.

Speakers include:

  • Abdulrahman Khansaheb, Managing Director, Khansaheb Industries
  • Nadia Ibrahim, Associate Director – Consultancy & Sustainability, Farnek
  • Mohamad Khodr Al-Dah, Survey Director, Dubai Land Department
  • Stuart Healey, Commercial Director, Savills
  • Mario Saab, Head of Sustainability MENA, Cundall (moderator)
