Join us for an insightful morning session exploring how two of the UK’s leading cities are tackling climate adaptation and resilience—each with distinct strategies, policies, and on-the-ground projects.

We’ll dive into the contrasting approaches of Greater Manchester and London, unpacking how governance structures, policy frameworks, and early adopter initiatives are shaping their climate futures. This is more than a comparison—it’s a call to action on why adaptation and resilience must be at the top of our agenda.

As part of World Green Building Week (WGBW), this session highlights the urgent need for collaborative, scalable solutions that drive climate resilience across ourbuilt environment.

Our speakers and sustainability experts, Dr Elizabeth Marlow and David Everington, Sustainability Associates, will set the scene with insights from both regions, sharing real-world examples and lessons learned. They’ll then lead a conversation with local policymakers on where we go next—and how we get there.

Key themes they will cover:

  •  Policy frameworks: Greater London authority (GLA) vs Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) /Manchester Climate Change Partnership (MCCP)
  • Community-led vs top-down approaches
  • Nature-based solutions and urban greening
  • Funding and private sector engagement
  • Measuring resilience and adaptation success
