This project is Australia's first dedicated commercial life sciences and research precinct, strategically located between Sydney's universities, hospitals, and research institutes. The campus will feature high-tech laboratories, workspaces, and essential infrastructure for life sciences professionals. It aims to boost investment, productivity, and growth in advanced medical and health sciences, fostering local research and development.

Our team has provided sustainability advisory on the project since concept design, initially helping to inform the competitive design competition, developing the sustainability strategy, and providing sustainable design advice and reporting for the project’s planning application. The project is targeting a 5 Star Green Star Buildings rating, with a focus on reducing carbon, resilience, health & wellbeing, and community.

“Kurraba Life Sciences Campus will be a true centre of excellence for the rapidly growing sector in Australia. Our team worked closely with the client to develop an ambitious sustainability strategy and overcome the complexities of applying the Green Star rating system to a complex laboratory building typology with strict functional requirements and significant energy demands,” Hannah Morton, Sustainability Associate Director.
