Dublin Port Tolka Estuary Greenway is a dedicated cycle and pedestrian route along the Northern perimeter of the Port overlooking the Tolka Estuary. The two-kilometre Greenway is a celebration of an area of the port that has never been accessed by the public before and offers people an exciting new destination to learn about Dublin’s historical stature.

We ensured the lighting design of the cycle and pedestrian route along with three discovery points were energy efficient with LED lighting. We used lighting software along with creating a BIM Model of the Greenway to produce graphics of the lighting design for Dublin Port. We also used a 3D lighting software dilux EVO to visualise walkthroughs of the walkway.

Darren Kelly commented, “We considered our lighting design to ensure wildlife was not adversely affected by artificial illumination. Along with getting some exercise, visitors can learn something new about Dublin with Interpretative panels at each discovery point that explore Dublin’s rich history as a port city.”

With a focus on energy efficient lighting, we aimed to significantly reduce our carbon footprint while maintaining optimal illumination. This not only delivers measurable reductions in both environmental impacts and lifecycle lighting system costs but also promotes sustainable travel.
