I have been working in Construction Design Management (CDM) consultancy work for over 25 years. Making the world a safer and healthier place for contractors, users, maintenance teams, the public, and future demolition teams is very rewarding. Having graduated from the University of Northumbria, and with the introduction of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, I was able to sidestep out of the structural department, create the CDM Consultancy within Cundall and take up the position as CDM Manager.
Having early engagement with the CDM Consultancy at Cundall saves our clients time and money, while not compromising on quality. Discussing options at an early stage allows stakeholders to understand the importance of health and safety in the building and design. I regularly sit in on design risk management workshops, enabling reasoned design risk mitigation to take place.
Cundall aims for excellence across everything we do. In the CDM Consultancy, we continually review what we do and are looking for ways to improve both digitally and practically. Our primary concern is that all projects undertaken are completed on time, on budget and with no health and safety issues. This ensures all elements can be cleaned and maintained with due regard to health and safety, from simple adjustments such as the provision of adjustable lighting to avoid working at height.
