Lucy McCoy

After completing my MEng in Structural Engineering with Architecture at the University of Edinburgh, I joined Cundall for its genuine commitment to sustainability and its forward-thinking approach to design. While studying, I developed a strong interest in how structural engineering can drive positive environmental and social impact. This passion aligns closely with Cundall’s values, particularly its dedication to integrating sustainability into every stage of the design process. I am excited to contribute to projects that challenge convention, promote innovation, and push the boundaries of sustainable engineering

Creativity within structural engineering to me is not just creativity in building design, but the entire approach to design. As a graduate, I have the unique opportunity to cultivate this mindset early in my career, developing a design process that balances technical precision with imaginative thinking. This foundation will allow me to approach future projects with originality, adaptability, and a commitment to continual improvement. 

Cundall’s approach to design promotes engineering excellence through multi-disciplinary collaboration and a continuous drive to be an industry leader. I find this mindset particularly inspiring as a new member of the Cundall team, as it reflects a commitment to innovation, quality, and sustainability across all project types. Being part of an environment that consistently strives for excellence motivates me to contribute proactively and continue developing as an engineer.
