I joined Cundall as a graduate, wanting to develop my career in energy, building services, building physics and sustainability. After almost 20 years, I have had the opportunity to fulfil my appetite and also continue learning. I have pioneered LEED, BREEAM and WELL in the Spanish market, and have contributed to energy efficiency in data centres by publishing a regional government technical guide. As well as being the director for Cundall Spain, I have also been a member of the Spanish Green Building Council board of directors.
One of the things I enjoy the most about Cundall is that we truly work with other teams at all levels across regions. Project teams are formed on the basis of innovative technical approach and experience rather than location, meaning we get to work with people from across the globe. I meet with leadership teams regularly to discuss global matters and find synergies. Although it can be tricky at times, it is enriching working as part of a global business.
Being given the environment to develop skills is important to me. When our clients at Telefonica were faced with tight energy goals, it was clear we needed a detailed approach. By developing a detailed spreadsheet, I was able to calculate hourly consumption data from operations with real-time weather information, which proved that our design would achieve the goals. This approach was subsequently used on a project for Facebook in Sweden.
