Vera Sehlstedt recognised at the Young Structural Engineering Professional Award 2025

UK and Europe 31 March 2025

The Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) has announced the finalists for the Young Structural Engineering Professional Award 2025, and Vera Sehlstedt is among the four finalists.

Having a background and passion in architecture and engineering, Vera applies them to all her projects. Her technical knowledge and parametric modelling skills played a big part of our involvement in the Las Vegas Sphere, and Vera was the structural lead for the winning submission ‘Healing Kharkiv: From rubble to renewal’ for the Norman Foster Foundation’s Kharkiv Housing Challenge.

Vera continues to mentor and tutor architecture students at the University of East London to develop their engineering skills. Together, they developed the Trillium Pavilion, an installation that featured in the London Festival of Architecture.

“It is a real privilege to even be considered by the IStructE for this award,” says Vera. “I always try to find ways to combine engineering and design when it comes to innovation, and I’ve been lucky enough to have a supportive, collaborative and creative team around me.”

If successful, Vera will be invited to join the judging panel for the 2025 Structural Awards.
