Birmingham’s skyline has a new addition as Three Chamberlain Square officially reaches practical completion following a 25-month construction programme. The landmark development, part of the Paradise estate, marks a significant milestone in the city’s commercial evolution and sets a new standard for sustainable office design in the UK.
The ten-storey, 189,000ft2 (17,600m2) office building has been designed by Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios and delivered by contractor Sir Robert McAlpine. It will soon become home to a number of leading organisations including EY who announced the relocation plans for their Birmingham office earlier this year.
Three Chamberlain Square is already being recognised as one of the UK’s most sustainable commercial buildings with sustainability having been a key part of the project brief from the outset. It has achieved BREEAM Outstanding and a Design Reviewed NABERS 5* rating at the design stage; both accreditations that underscore the project’s commitment to environmental performance, energy efficiency, and long-term resilience. The scheme has also significantly reduced upfront embodied carbon during the construction process.
This latest addition to Paradise not only enhances Birmingham’s architectural landscape but also reinforces the city’s ambition to lead in sustainable urban development. With its forward-thinking design and futureproof credentials, Three Chamberlain Square is poised to become a flagship destination for modern business in the heart of the Midlands.
Michael Gosling, Partner, commented, “It has been fantastic to work on a project where sustainability has been such a key part of the project from concept through to completion. The finished building is a landmark scheme in Birmingham and is a culmination of a journey that started in the depths of Covid lockdown and has taken over 24,000 hours of effort across multiple Cundall teams.”
A huge well done goes everyone involved including MEPC, AtkinsRealis, Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, Sir Robert McAlpine and Weedon Architects as well as the wider project team.
