I had a keen interest in maths and physics during my school years and saw engineering as the perfect way to use my skills in a practical way. I did a Year in Industry (run by the Engineering Development Trust) after finishing my A-levels, joining Cundall for a year to get a real-life insight into civil and structural engineering. Following this invaluable experience, I chose a career in structural engineering, starting with Cundall full time in 2008 after graduating with a masters from the University of Durham. I have been fortunate to work on a wide range of projects, in the north-east and across the country. I achieved chartered engineer status through the Institution of Structural Engineers in 2016.

I have a very thorough attention to detail and pride myself on producing high quality engineering solutions for my clients. I have extensive practical experience of using a variety of structural materials and will guide my clients to the most appropriate structural solutions.

I enjoy working with design teams to develop solutions that address client requirements. In my role, I will usually be involved from concept to construction, meaning I can build relationships with the team and have a detailed understanding of the projects we are working on. I am a big advocate for early structural engagement, helping to refine building designs to simplify the structure and reduce cost and programme.
