Joanna Peacock appointed to spearhead Cundall’s South West sustainability projects

UK and Europe 30 五月 2024

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Joanna Peacock as sustainability lead for the South West of England. Based in Cundall’s newly-opened Bristol office, the appointment is significant not only because it will provide much-needed sustainability services to clients in the region, but also because Cundall now has a sustainability lead in every region it operates in globally.

Joanna joins Cundall with over 18 years of experience advising clients on how to make their projects more sustainable. She has a master's degree in Sustainable Development and Environmental Change, and previously spent nine years with sustainability consultancy Eight Versa, where she gained valuable experience providing services to the built environment, helping clients navigate through the planning process and achieve green building ratings such as BREEAM, LEED and WELL.

Joanna also has a deep understanding of the Bristol market, having successfully delivered projects in the region. She believes that with the approval of Bristol’s new Local Plan and a high percentage of existing building stock needing improvement, the city offers a great opportunity for retrofit first and implementation of circular economy principles. This opportunity to help clients decarbonise their assets through retrofit is one of the reasons Cundall invested in the new Bristol office. The practice has contributed heavily to industry guidance and standards and is keen to help like-minded developers and owners achieve their sustainability goals through retrofit and decarbonisation.

“Having dedicated my entire career to working in sustainability, it is exciting to work for a company whose interest in creating a sustainable built environment aligns with my own. I have a passion for meeting new people to discuss their sustainability aspirations and feel strongly that the South West of England has the potential to realise real change in the design and construction sector. I am particularly excited to apply Cundall’s Zero Carbon Design 2030 initiative to projects in the Bristol market and inspire our clients and stakeholders to innovate in pursuit of this common goal,” commented Joanna.

“It is a good time to be part of developing Bristol’s built environment, it is a forward-thinking city with a demand for sustainability coming from the public, occupiers, developers and even the local government. Cundall’s well-established expertise in this area is suited to help meet the sustainability needs of clients in the region.”

Cundall’s Bristol office was launched with a team of building service engineers and has grown to include fire engineering too. The growth of the sustainability team will boost the current offering for the region. Sustainability is core to Cundall’s mission, vision and values, including its commitment to achieve net zero carbon on every project by 2030.

Simon Wyatt, Sustainability Partner, commented:

“While we have previously worked on projects in Bristol, having a sustainability team in the region will help service our clients better. Joanna’s level of sustainability and market expertise is going to be a great asset for Cundall. The demand for sustainability in Bristol remains high, and Joanna’s experience in green rating tools will help our Bristol clients achieve sought-after accreditations for their developments.”
