Ada Infrastructure breaks ground on 210MW London data centre campus

Cundall is pleased to celebrate the official groundbreaking of Ada Infrastructure's Dockalnds data centre campus in London. This is a significant milestone for the project which is one of the largest new data centres to be built in London. 

The campus is Ada Infrastructure’s first data centre project in Europe and will comprise of three 70MW IT multi-storey buildings. The development also includes a 300MVA substation, security gatehouse, firewater storage, and waste building.  

As lead consultant, we provided the multi-disciplinary engineering design, integrating mechanical and electrical engineering, civil and structural engineering, sustainability, fire, security, acoustics, and specialist expertise to deliver the campus. The project will target a power usage effectiveness (PUE) of 1.2-1.23. 

Project lead and Partner in the data centre team, Jamie Cameron said: “Ada Infrastructure’s Docklands campus has been an exciting venture for us and the team has thoroughly enjoyed working on it. Breaking ground marks a huge milestone on the project and it’s great to see the facility move closer to completion.” 

Attending the ceremony were Alec Stewart, Partner and data centre sector lead, and Thomas Heywood, Associate, both of whom are currently working on the project. Speaking on the ceremony, Alec said: “It is a pleasure to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for Ada Infrastructure’s data centre campus today. The development has been three years in the making, and it is exciting to see our designs now moving forward towards an operational facility. We are grateful to everyone at Ada for their trust and investment in bringing this 210MW IT capacity campus to life.” 

Thomas added: “Seeing the Docklands scheme break ground is an exciting milestone and reflects the strong collaboration between Ada Infrastructure and the wider project team. It’s encouraging to see the project move into delivery and to be part of a development that has the potential to support both local regeneration and longer-term sustainability objectives.”
