Hong Kong Children’s Hospital

Hong Kong Children’s Hospital is the first specialist Children’s Hospital and BEAM Plus Platinum hospital in Hong Kong. Ambitious sustainability targets, along with exceptional operational performance, were non-negotiables for this hospital. Cundall provided sustainability and BEAM consultancy services which maximised both the building’s environmental performance and supported patient and staff wellbeing.

Our Sustainability experts adopted a ‘twin tower’ design, facilitating wind movement around the site. Extensive green landscaping and solar reflective materials covering more than 50% of the roof to reduce the heat island effect while ensuring beneficial outlooks. The building’s ventilation design incorporates high-performance filters, enhancing air quality and a mixed-mode HVAC system enables fresh air cooling for suitable areas. These innovative engineering solutions were delivered with the clear vision to provide a world-class healthcare facility.
