I came into lighting design after many years working as an architect on projects in India. Something that fascinated me was understanding the way in which built forms and the spatial organisation of buildings relate to the surroundings, including how they respond to and utilise daylight. In lighting design, we leverage that knowledge of how space, function and materiality interact with light to enhance human experience of place.

It is fascinating to see how human emotions and the built environment are interconnected. Every place has a story that is constantly being both created and recreated by our experiences within it. Articulating this in designing lighting and balancing natural light and electric light is a beautiful challenge where technical knowledge turns creativity into reality.

Lighting designers work in extremely close collaboration with project architects and interior designers to collectively imagine the experience of future occupants. This creative teamwork is how we achieve outstanding spaces that support productivity, belonging, wellbeing and best practice energy-efficiency.
