A great night was had by all who attend the Celebrating Excellence Midlands awards 2026, especially the Cundall team who picked up two project wins on the night.
Each year, the Constructing Excellence awards are held to celebrate everything the UK’s built environment has to be proud of.
Three Chamberlain Square, the first in the West Midlands to receive a 5* NABERS UK Design Reviews Target Rating, won the Sustainability award.
Michael Gosling, Partner, commented “We are delighted to win the Constructing Excellence West Midlands sustainability award for Three Chamberlain Square. From the outset sustainability has been at the heart of the project's brief and the end results show what happens when the client, contractor and entire project team embed sustainable thinking into every decision. We are very proud of the final building that has been delivered.”
Highly commended in the same category was The Tea Factory in Digbeth, Birmingham. Working for the contractor, our building services and sustainability teams were able to assist with the reuse of existing assets, whilst designing a twin wheel air handling units enabling substantial energy and cost saving for the client. This approach helped achieve BREEAM Outstanding (Shell and Core) and an EPC rating of -A.
Edward Street Hospital, a £30m revamp project for adults created a safe and modern environment, won the Social Impact award as well as being highly commended in the Project of the Year category. The project offered a host of initiatives including apprenticeships and training opportunities for people in the area. Our building services, sustainability, acoustics and vertical transportation teams worked to achieve the low carbon building aiming for BREEAM ‘Excellent’.
Elsewhere on the same night, 19 Cornwall Street picked up the ESG award and the EY letting of Three Chamberlain Square won ‘Deal of the Year’ at the Props awards.
A huge congratulations to all the evenings winners.
