Mark Russell joins Cundall as Director of planning, based in the Newcastle head office. Mark’s appointment reflects our commitment to growing the company’s planning service offering to a broad range of clients.
Mark joins Cundall after playing a pivotal role as Planning Manager at Capita and brings over 25 years of experience in planning and development strategy, having led major infrastructure, regeneration, and mixed-use projects across the UK. His expertise spans both public and private sectors, with a track record of delivering complex planning permissions and shaping sustainable urban growth. Some of his recent projects include the Northumberland line extension, and Edinburgh University’s informatics building. Mark has also been an expert witness at public inquiries and more recently for a for a large residential scheme in Durham. His experience also includes leading the planning team at both Fife and North Yorkshire council as well as being a principal planning advisor for Homes for England who represent over 200 member organisations across the housing sector.
