Canberra Airport receives Airport Carbon Accreditation

Australia 03 July 2025

Canberra Airport has been awarded Level 4 status under the prestigious Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) program by Airports Council International (ACI), making it one of the highest accredited airports in Australia.

This accreditation recognises Canberra Airport’s long-term commitment to decarbonisation across its operations. As part of the submission, Canberra Airport demonstrated a clear pathway towards net zero emissions with specific actions associated with emissions reduction, including clear commitment to achieving net zero emissions for Scope 1 and Scope 2 by 2030.

Oliver Grimaldi, Director of Sustainability at Cundall said “Canberra Airport is only the fifth airport in Australia to receive this certification. As airports typically enter the programme and progress to Level 4 over several years, it is further impressive that Canberra has directly received a Level 4 certification. A huge well done to everyone involved.”

Cundall’s ESG team supported Canberra Airport with collating the required submission materials for applying for the Level 4 certification. This work included setting Canberra Airport’s reporting boundary, calculating the Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions profile of the airports and the surrounding shopping centres and business parks. Our team also ensured the client’s stakeholder engagement approach and decarbonisation strategy aligned with Airport Carbon Accreditation requirements.
