Transportation
It is essential that a development can be appropriately accessed by all means of transport. We can assist in the design of on-site facilities including links to existing infrastructure. In some instances site constraints can prevent all facilities being provided on site Cundall can help with developing management plans and in extreme circumstances, off site controls or restrictions.
Any development proposal must consider and address how people travel to, from and within the site. Early identification of constraints allows them to be designed out and/or mitigation costs identified. Cundall’s expertise is in understanding the requirements of the highway authorities, which can shorten the time taken to receive planning permission.
The earlier our team can be involved in a project, the sooner we can resolve potential problems, and the greater the potential for cost identification and savings. We believe sustainable transport is crucial and we are able to provide advice on all transport solutions. This includes innovative and sustainable transport measures that minimise the environmental impact on the wider community.
In many cases a Transport Assessment or Statement is required to be submitted with a planning application together with a Travel Plan. These documents require many types of assessment, not just the impact of the traffic generated. The reports require qualitative and quantitative justification of the development proposals. The variety of assessment includes issues such as pedestrian and cycle accessibility, vehicle circulation, conflict assessment and parking analysis together with large vehicle access (buses, deliveries and refuse collection). Emergency and construction accesses can also be assessed.
