Cundall has adopted a practice-wide BIM strategy to assist us produce world class projects. The utilisation of BIM enables the project team to have a joined-up approach and now sits at the forefront of all that we do. Together, we can understand the implications of our choices, constraints and opportunities as everyone has a clearer understanding of the design at an earlier stage.
We have utilised BIM on a number of projects, collaborating with architects and have seen a number of advantages. This Includes the reduction of design conflicts or clashes, more efficient workflows, easier construction planning for phased construction and the reduction of waste materials during construction.
We have a large resource of trained BIM technicians throughout the practice assisting our structural, civil and building services engineers deliver these projects. Our BIM models are held centrally at our data centre, this allows multi-user access throughout any of our offices.
BIM is changing the construction industry, improving collaboration and adding value. Our Global BIM leader Graeme Padgham, is leading a knowledge sharing initiative internally and externally to maximise the potential of this technology, learning from each other in Cundall and from others in the industry. We have spoken at a number of conferences and are collaborating with a number of organisations to benefit the wider construction community.
