The Metcash Distribution Centre is a new flagship distribution centre that has achieved 4-Star Design and As Built Green Star rating. At the time of certification, the project was the largest Green Star industrial project to be certified, is the 1st to contain a refrigerated warehouse and received an innovation recognition for the use of a steel fibre reinforced concrete slab. With a lettable area of 80,000m2, which currently accounts for over 1% of the total Green star rated area in Australia.

Sustainable features include:

  • Translucent roof sheeting, providing high levels of daylight and a huge lighting energy reduction
  • Combination of T5 Fluorescent and LED lighting Daylight harvesting and dimming systems
  • Zoned LED lighting in the temperature controlled facilities
    Efficient water use, including high WELS rated fixtures, 100% rainwater used for irrigation and fire test water recycling
  • High levels of indoor environment quality
  • Effective construction management.
