Bede Academy

  • Bede Academy provides nursery, primary and secondary provision across two sites in Blyth on the Northumberland coast. The new layout is over three storeys in order to minimise take up of valuable site area on this restricted site.

Dealul Lomb

Cluj, Romania

  • This significant urban development on a 265-hectare site includes 10,000 residential units plus industrial, healthcare, education, retail and office buildings. Cundall was commissioned to review and develop the masterplan in order to safeguard future opportunities for embedding sustainability within the scheme, and to future-proof the scheme against changes in legislation.

Decentralisation of District Heating System, Durham University

  • This project was carried out on a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where most of the buildings are listed and where new archaeological discoveries can be anticipated. Cundall undertook a feasibility study to determine the best way of establishing a new boiler plant to serve the buildings around The Palace Green.

Graham Sports Centre and Boat House, Durham University

  • The Graham Sports Centre at Maiden Castle is the main site for Durham University Sport and it was selected to appear in London Organising Committee Pre-Games Training Camp Guide.

Harris Academies

  • This project involved the enhancement of teaching and learning facilities at three existing Harris Academy sites in South London - Peckham, Crystal Palace and Merton. The newly formed Harris Boys Academy in Peckham will replace a former school, which will provide a new building, playground and excellent facilities and equipment.

Hartford Hall Estate

Northumberland, United Kingdom

  • Hartford Hall is a Grade II listed building. In 1998, the new owners wanted to renovate the Hall and outbuildings and convert them back to residential use, initially with the addition of 47 new-build properties. This concept is called 'enabling development'; it effectively overrides certain restrictive planning policies and allows the restoration exercise to be subsidised by the new development.

Riverside Park

Sunderland, United Kingdom

  • Riverside Park is the redevelopment of a 37-hectare brownfield site on the south bank of the River Wear. The scheme is set to provide 1,200 residential units, a 10,000m² retail centre, a hospice and a junior school, with associated infrastructure including a riverside walk and extensive parkland.
