Fifty-five of the North East's most impressive property schemes fought it out for top honours at the RICS Renaissance Awards 2012 at Newcastle's Civic Centre on Friday 27 April.
Known as the region's property 'Oscars', the prestigious contest celebrates inspirational initiatives in the land, property and construction sectors.
This year the awards attracted a record 97 entries from many areas of the North East, including Northumberland, North Tyneside, South Tyneside, Durham and Teesside.
Cundall saw the Toffee Factory win the Regeneration category as well as being honored a highly commended for its Design and Innovation. We provided Civil engineering, Structural engineering, Geotechnical and Transportation services on this successful project that entailed the restoration and redevelopment of a Victorian factory building, damaged by fire in the mid 1980’s and left derelict for 20 years. Part of the wider regeneration of the Ouseburn area of Newcastle, the building now provides modern facilities for the creative industry. The building achieved a BREEAM very good standard.
The Theatre Royal, Newcastle won the category for Building Conservation and a highly commended was awarded to the Decentralisation of the District heating system at Durham University.
We hope to gain the same success for the pending Constructing Excellence Awards which will be held on 11th May.
