Edel Brangan

Electrical Engineer

Birmingham, United Kingdom

Everyone in the office is so supportive and always willing to help each other out with whatever is needed.

I completed my degree in Mechanical Engineering at University College Dublin in 2004 and then went on to qualify with a MSc in Sustainable Development at the Dublin Institute of Technology in 2006.

I relocated from Ireland to join Cundall's Birmingham office in March 2007. I have always had a very keen interest in green building design and was very impressed by Cundall’s wide experience and expertise in the area. I joined Cundall’s specialist sustainability team as a Graduate Mechanical Engineer. Initially I shared my time between the Birmingham and London offices, and I was promoted to engineer level in 2009 where I continued to work as a sustainability specialist until March 2011. In order to widen my knowledge and experience in building services design, I have recently moved discipline to train as an electrical engineer.

In my role I have had the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects both nationally and internationally. Internationally, I have assisted the Shanghai, Hong Kong and Dubai offices by providing sustainability advice and energy modelling of projects. Since joining Cundall, I have been provided with several exciting training and travel opportunities. I was also given the opportunity to travel and work abroad and recently undertook a three month secondment in our Shanghai and Hong Kong offices.

The thing I like most about working at Cundall is the friendly, welcoming atmosphere in the Birmingham office. I really enjoy the variety of my work, both in terms of the many projects and the type of design work that I have been involved in.
